University of Pittsburgh Chiller Plant

Projects > University of Pittsburgh Chiller Plant

Intrepid Engineers designed the Soil Nail Wall for 22′ tall cut to install new Chiller utility lines. The $18.8 million chilled water plant will provide cooling to Pitt’s upper campus, including the new Recreation & Wellness center. Also included in the plant is a rainwater collection system that allows for the reuse of rainwater, minimizing potable water use while also reducing stormwater runoff flowing into the city’s combined sewer system.
