In 2019 Intrepid Engineers was awarded the work for designing the temporary shoring on the PA Turnpike Cranberry Twp. Interchange project. Intrepid designed the shoring for three different structures along milepost 28.49 to milepost 30.88. Due to the work being performed in a high traffic area, Intrepid had to account for limited workspace, phased construction, and large vehicular loads behind the shoring walls. The shoring system at each structure consisted of soldier beam and lagging walls with some form of tieback or bracing, including rock anchors, deadman anchors, and custom strut & waler braces. This $75 million dollar job resulted in an additional travel lane in each direction, and the replacement of three mainline bridges to accommodate the widened roadway section.
